Created in 2013 from deep affection for Trieste and its Slovenie heritage, Slofest has become a landmark celebration of Slovene culture. Organised by the Union of Slovenian Cultural Circles (ZSKD), and held every two years, this September festival brings together Slovene organisations from across Italy for three days of celebration.
With around sixty events spanning culture, art, recreation and music, the festival showcases the full spectrum of Slovene community life.
Yet Slofest’s vision extends beyond celebrating just one heritage – it embraces Friuli Venezia Giulia’s rich multicultural tapestry. Alongside Slovene traditions, visitors can explore Trieste’s Serbian, Greek, Jewish and Lutheran communities, reflecting the city’s unique role as a crossroads of cultures.
