The largest socio-political gathering for Udine’s Slovene community began in 1964 as a holiday reunion for those who had left their mountain homes to seek opportunities elsewhere. Today, while still a cherished homecoming celebration, Emigrants’ Day has evolved into a vital forum for addressing the community’s future across the Canale, Natisone, Torre and Resia valleys. Organised by Udine’s SKGZ and SSO organisations, this annual event provides a platform for assessing challenges and opportunities facing the region’s Slovene heritage.
